Continuing Dental Education Regulation has been approved by the Govt. of India under Section 20 of the Dentists Act, 1948. Gazette Notification and duly Gazette of India Extraordinary Part-III Section 4 dated 13.9.2007.
 
As per new Regulations, all Dental Colleges should have minimum 25% lecturers with MDS qualifications.
 
The Executive Committee at its meeting held on 1st April 2006 decided that any dental institution including the proposed should obtain prior approval of Dental Council of India before making any new faculty appointments.
 
The permission granted under DCI Regulation for starting BDS/ MDS will be granted for a period of one year and will be renewed on yearly basis after inspection by DCI. This process of renewal of permission will continue until the degree of the first batch of students appear in Final Year Examination of the concerned University is recognised.
